Railways is installing 19742 fog safe devices across the country for smooth operation of trains during fog. Out of this, a total of 1091 fog safe devices will be installed in North Eastern Railway. 347 devices have been provided to Lucknow division, 476 to Varanasi division and 268 devices to Izzatnagar division.
Every year, fog affects the movement of trains in North India. This year too, since the last week of December, most of the major trains coming from Delhi to Lucknow and Gorakhpur are running late. Railways has provided 19742 fog safe devices for safe operation of trains. With this step, the reliability of train services has started improving.
CPRO Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the GPS based fog safe device is suitable for all types of electric and diesel locomotives, EMU/MEMU/DEMU trains in all types of single line, double line, electrified and non-electrified railway sections. This device provides onboard real time information to the loco pilot about the prescribed land marks like signals, level crossing gates, permanent speed breakers, neutral sections even in dense fog.
